There are a number of free UK business directories available for SME's. All of the directories we looked at and registered with will create one or more links to your website home page and most also allow you to add additional information about your business, including; address, telephone number and brief description about the products and/or services your business website offers.
It is worth remembering that most of these directories are in business to make money from you, so be prepared for the sales calls. A number of the directories offer great packages for sponsored and enhanched listings. You may well see your competition advertising in this way and if you feel its right for your business plus you have the budget, there's nothing to stop you jumping right in.
Our advice is to try before you buy - let the dust settle for 3-4 months following the implementation of your link building strategy, then review your analytics, natural search engine listings and overall business SEO strategy - then adapt your ongoing plans to suit your business needs.
